Location, Location, Location - how to save money whilst choosing your perfect wedding venue
Choosing your dream venue can be a daunting and let’s be honest, expensive task.
Alongside the catering, your venue is likely to be one of your biggest expenses of your wedding day. With an array of choices on offer, trying to determine your wants and needs (accommodation on site, fully catered, budget friendly etc) this can be a minefield to navigate and find somewhere just right for you.
But let’s not let that phase us!
Here are five great tips to help save money on your perfect wedding venue:
Off peak booking - choosing a date outside of the popular summer months is likely to bring a massive saving. Spring, autumn and winter provide their own magical opportunities and venues are more likely to offer discounts and special offers during these times. If you haven’t got your heart set on a summer wedding, this can save you big bucks!
Hold a weekday wedding - Similar to above, a Saturday wedding during the busy summer months will be much more expensive at most venues than a midweek/off season wedding. If the dancing and partying is important to you, our top tip is to go for a Friday. This can still work out cheaper than a weekend, and guests will only have to take one day off of work - leaving the rest of the weekend to recover from the day’s shenanigans.
Look for venues that offer attractive packages - many venues offer special packages that incorporate the venue hire alongside aspects such as the ceremony, day and evening catering, accommodation and entertainment. These can offer massive savings from booking each service individually. Just make sure you knows exactly what’s included, and that you are happy with each aspect before booking.
Use ‘venue dressing’ to transform a venue - whether you are holding your wedding on a shoestring budget, or just want to spend your budget in other areas, its amazing what venue dressing companies can do to transform an otherwise unglamorous venue. Whether its a local village hall or a barn, these can be hired for peanuts compared to more traditional venues. Go in with an open mind and lean on the professionals to help create your perfect venue.
Choose a destination wedding - getting married in a sun kissed far away land can actually save you money. Venues and wedding packages are often cheaper for somewhere spectacular abroad than they are at home, and more often than not less guests will attend; saving more on catering and hosting. Just make it up to those who can’t come along by holding a big party when you get home!
